"Contention, all right? They're going to Contention."
And not a whole lot was out there. An almost failed on-a-whim ghost town adventure. So we headed down the road to Fairbank.
You know why these towns went caput?
Because the residents had nothing to do but twiddle their thumbs. And ride trikes but even that loses it's appeal after the first 5 years of your life...
Not sure what these are.
If you're wondering how this town came to be, it was a railroad town. It was abandoned in the 1970's. I think at that point the population was all of.... 1 (a lady who ran the gas station).
It was a prime piece of real estate. (Did I mention this trip was on a whim? I don't normally wear tub tops on our adventures)
No 80 year old poop in the outhouse. We checked.
Our camera battery died shortly there after. You'll have to miss seeing the crumbled fortress, dilapidated buildings, graves of the unknown and 90 year old rusted trash left over. But there will be plenty more ghost towns to document while we're down in Arizona!
