Saguaro National Park East

Years and years ago when we first moved to Tucson, the first national park we visited was Saguaro National Park East (there’s an east park and a west park). We revisit every once in a while for biking but this time around we brought family on the drive through the 8-mile Cactus Forest Scenic Loop Drive… and to take photos in ties before they were cut off at Pinnacle Peak.

Scenic Ajo Mountain Drive in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument

Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is one of the parks that has generally been off our radar in the 8 years we’ve lived in Arizona. After all, we have two Saguaro National Parks in town, why would we drive 2.5 hours to see more cacti? Well, we were itching to get outdoors after a weekend of recuperating from having all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted. We figured why not finally make the drive before the summer heat arrived?
