Phoenix Zoo

Saturday called for a visit to the Phoenix Zoo! Here are a couple of the animal exhibits we saw:

Ducklings at the Phoenix Zoo
These little ducklings were hanging out in the giraffe exhibit.

Burrowing Owl at the Phoenix Zoo
A grumpy Burrowing Owl

Road Runner at the Phoenix Zoo
Road Runners are native to AZ. The first time I first saw one when we first moved to AZ, I was surprised. I expected them to be almost as large as ostriches after spending my childhood watching Wile E Coyote and Road Runner.

Turkeys at the Phoenix Zoo
Not the most attractive of fellows....

Warthogs at the Phoenix Zoo
And neither are these warthogs....

Golden Eagle at the Phoenix Zoo

Komodo Dragon at the Phoenix Zoo

Javelina at the Phoenix Zoo
Javelinas! These guys are everywhere, usually eating everything.

Lizard at the Phoenix Zoo
This guy wasn't an exhibit. We were cooling off in the shade and he just happened to be chilling on the tree right beside us.

Red parrot at the Phoenix Zoo

Tortoise at the Phoenix Zoo

It was a hot day so we tried not to stay out under the sun for too long. A lot of the animals had the same idea and were lazing about in the shade, behind trees, rocks and bushes.
