We’ve been preoccupied with mountain biking for most of April so we decided to start May off with a new hike on Mount Lemmon. We packed our doggy-guest into the car and headed up Catalina Highway, made it to the top of Mount Lemmon, realized it was too cold for our Arizona-blood and headed back down to the base for a warmer hike. Charlie, our doggy-guest was extremely confused at all our stops. So were we. On our 3rd try, we parked at the Gordon Hirabayashi Prison Camp where there are several trail heads and picked out the trail to the Molino Basin Campground. Sometimes unplanned hikes turn out just beautiful!
We had plenty of cloud coverage today so the hike was perfect. Normally this sort of hike would be saved for the winter months since it is a very exposed, desert hike.
Meet Charlie-girl, our most mellow guest yet! She loves going OUTSIDE! Say the words ‘outside’ or ‘walk’ and this normally laid back pup perks right up. That tail can wag a million miles per hour!
Avoiding eye contact with the camera. We don’t want husband to think we’re challenging him.
This trail is dotted with lots of wildflowers. Always surprising when in the desert.
We realized this would make a fun trek for mountain bikes so we have plans to come back to ride this trail!
