We had initially planned to hike Cecret Lake near Alta in Utah however at this time of the year the road was closed so we drove back down to the entrance base of Little Cottonwood Canyon. At this point half of us were motion sick from the twists and turns of the road so the Temple Quarry Trail seemed like as good of a place as any to get out for fresh air!
The Temple Quarry Trail is a super, super easy, paved 1/2 mile loop that runs along Little Cottonwood Creek. The historical markers along the trail describe the efforts of early Mormon pioneers who quarried granite from this site in the early 1870s to build the Salt Lake Temple.
