We took a 3 hour trip to get a last minute exploration in before we flew back to Washington for Christmas.
The Tonto National Monument is a well-preserved cliff dwelling once occupied by the Salado culture during the 13th, 14th, and early 15th centuries.
It's a short hike up the hillside to get to the ruins.
There are signs along the trail indicating how the Natives used the plants. Pretty interesting. I stored a few used into the back of my mind.... in case I for some reason get lost in Arizona.
