One of the items on my Ultimate Washington State Bucket List is something I have been wanting to do for years: Kayak… at Kayak Point.
Kayak Point is a park that I’ve visited often growing up. Good memories have been made there with family and friends. I have never, however, taken a kayak out there and splashed around in the bay. At the spur of the moment, my family and I decided to have a BBQ there so also spur of the moment, my older brother and I picked up a single kayak. 🙂 It’s actually a kayak meant for lakes and calm rivers, but Kayak Point sits on the bay and straight of Port Susan. Because Camano Island wraps around it, it’s not the open ocean and the water is very calm. It’s a great area for newbies and those with apprehensions about kayaking in the ocean.

The water is so calm that kayakers can just push off, without assistance, from the beach. It’s also a popular area for swimming.

I may have tried to sneak up on this gull.

Jack even came out on the water with me however he was too busy looking for sea monsters and other sea doggos to bork at.
