One of Canada’s National Historic Sites sits on the coast of West Vancouver. Lighthouse Park, founded in 1792, boasts of 182 acres of first grown rainforest and is one of the most photographed spots in the western Canadian mainland.

While there are picnic tables, there is a permanent fire ban at Lighthouse Park. BBQs, smoking, and cooking are absolutely not allowed anywhere in the park. Your best option is to bring in Chinese takeout if you’re planning to lunch there. 🙂 …or maybe sandwiches will do.

There is a plethora of hiking trails at Lighthouse Park, all rated as easy and great for kids or beginners.

Graffiti …yuck.

This lighthouse was built in 1912. It replaced the first lighthouse, which was built out of wood, in 1874. The structure that stands today was once equipped with gun emplacements and search lights during WWII. It was used for surveillance of the Burrard Inlet, to guard against enemy submarines and ships.
