On our way back south from Squamish, we made a random quick stop at Porteau Cove Provincial Park, just off of the Sea-to-Sky Highway. The sound and its surrounding mountains were too beautiful for us to pass by.

Porteau Cove is a popular place for camping, fishing, diving, boating, and stargazing –the Aurora Borealis puts on quite a show here for the lucky few. We also discovered it’s a wonderful place for bird watchers! Note: we’re not avid bird watchers by any means, but we do enjoy seeing them… except when it’s an Arizona Woodpecker knocking on our door. I literally have to chase our resident woodpecker off twice a week!

Great Blue Heron

Double-crested Cormorant –we wouldn’t have known what bird this was if it hadn’t been for the time we got close to them along the Salt River in Arizona.

A cute little Welcome Swallow.
