Just another trip report & photos of our 4th hike up Hunter Trail to the summit of Picacho Peak. You know a trail is really fun when you’ve conquered it multiple times. 😉

With the steep elevation gain requiring cables to aid in traversing, this is not a dog friendly trail in the least. With that said, Rocco is not your average doggy and insisted on coming.
“Thanks for letting me come guys!” …said husband to Rocco.

The first really steep descent. Picacho Peak is an up and down hike; it starts out going up, straightens out, descends down rather steeply, ascends back up, flattens out, then ascends very quickly.
Sometimes it’s easier going down by going backwards.

Without opposable thumbs, Rocco needed some climbing assistance.

Summit! Rocco is probably eyeing the DQ near the base of the mountain.

Rocco’s face says this trail is a cinch, even without opposable thumbs!
