After checking into the beautiful and historic Cedar Grove Mansion, we drove around Vicksburg in search of antique shops, to take in the period style homes, and see the many military markers dotting the entire town. In the evening, when the lights were out and the Vicksburg Military Park was closed to the public, we joined Haunted Vicksburg on a ghost tour of the Vicksburg Military Park. Ooooooooooooh.

In a small group of about 10, we were conveyed from the meetup spot to the Vicksburg Military Park. Once a month, in partnership with Haunted Vicksburg, the park allows this tour group to enter after closing time. The night we went was the night before the siege began in 1863.

Our tour guide gave a very eerie and interesting historical account of the battle. He also included peculiar, ghostly incidents that have occurred recently. Now, I think that I am the least in tune to the... spiritual realm, but given the environment we were in and it's tragic history (19,233 casualties in less than 2 months), one could not help jumping at the black... things that flicked in between the statues and signs.

Many parts of the tour were done in pitch black. None of the signs or statues were lit. The only lights were the occasional camera flash and tiny fireflies so I had to lighten all of my pictures quite significantly.

Just so you can see how dark it was, the left is the original photo taken with the flash on. The right is the same photo lightened 100%.

I don't know if the larger dots are considered "orbs". But as I said previously, this park is not lit and it is surrounded by trees.

There you have it. I didn't capture anything but we enjoyed the tour nonetheless!
