Washington Park on Anacortes features a beautifully scenic loop road that is considered a classic. The single-lane, paved, 2.25 mile road takes hikers through a canopy of towering trees and offers sweeping ocean views. We hiked this Fidalgo Island loop together many years ago before we were even married and coming back was a nice trip down memory lane.

We took the stairs down to one of the beach access points to get a better view of the tide pool wildlife and found a Great Blue Heron in search of lunch!

They were too fast for my wide-angle lens but we were able to see several harbor porpoises at this view point.
