Wheeler Creek to Art Nord Trail
All it took was one foray into mountain biking and my addiction to the sport took root! My brother & I headed to Snowbasin for a change of scenery from biking on Antelope Island. I thought less boulders would make this slightly easier but trying to ascend a mountain trail on a bike is tough! Wheeler Creek Trail to Art Nord was only about 1.8 miles one way. One of the toughest 1.8 miles I've ever done, after Manitou Incline in Colorado Springs.
The trailhead starts just off of Highway 39 near the Pineview Reservoir.
The trail is slightly bumpy in the beginning & gets progressively bumpier as it ascends. This isn't a very technical trail but the gradual elevation gain does make it difficult to pedal up --for a beginner like myself anyway. On the other hand, I don't think my brother even broke a sweat.
The scenery is beautiful all around, tall canyons lush with trees next to a running creek. It was tough to appreciate though... I was too busy trying to huff and puff my way up the trail.
We climbed down a side trail to the running creek. Admiring Wheeler Creek was actually a guise so I could let my legs take a break...
Getting closer... (at least, that's what I was hoping for at this point)
Finally! Sweeping views of Snowbasin at the end of the trail.
I was told that all that effort would make up for the fun descent back down.
And it was! I think we managed to make it back down in less than 15 minutes.
