Ah, the ever elusive Aspen Trail #93. Probably not elusive to most people, but for some reason unbeknowst to us, we have failed to find this trail not once but twice. Today we were determined to find Aspen Trail or stay until we got it right! --well, that was my goal. Husband probably would've told me to hitch hike home if I had refused to leave.

Fortunately, I didn't have to hitch hike home. Aspen Trail #93 was actually right in front of us, nearly hidden by plants. Certainly it's very easy to pass without seeing --which we have done multiple times. It is right at the end of the Marshall Gulch parking lot, south of the restrooms.

Aspen Trail #93 heads upwards. The mistake we made previously was to head up then go down a side trail that leads over the stream and towards Sunset Trail. To continue on Aspen Trail, disregard the side trail that heads down and instead follow the trail upwards.

The aspens on this trail don't compare to the beautiful forest of Inner Basin in Flagstaff, but there are skinny aspen trees nonetheless.

The aspen grove seems to be limited to a particular area, growing in disorder. We overheard several seperate hiking groups commenting "I thought there were aspens on this trail..." There are. Just not many.

After passing the aspen grove, the trail winds through a fern grove.

Aspen Trail #93 offers views of upper Sabino Canyon, sections of the Pusch Ridge Wilderness and Tucson.

Husband was busy doing pushups while I was admiring the view (which is a cover-up for trying to catch my breath). This is actually a relatively easy hike but I didn't have my usual pre-trail donut therefore my fuel tank was running sans donut.

Aspen Trail #93 meets at a cross section with Wilderness of Rocks Trail, Mint Spring Trail, and Marshall Gulch Trail. You can opt to continue north on Aspen Trail, which ends near the radio towers for a total of 8.6 miles. We opted to loop back to the parking lot via the Marshall Gulch Trail. What I really wanted to see was a changing of foliage colors.

There it is! We finally found fall in Tucson!
