One of our favorite places to visit in Tucson is the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. We're supporting members and like to visit once every 2-3 months, mostly to see if the raccoon is doing something adorable like washing rocks.

Husband's parents and brother visited over the Memorial Day weekend and one of the places we showed them was of course the ASDM!

The raccoon was up and about but this time he was in the water clanking around with a metal bowl!

He definitely looks like he's up to something suspicious!

A rare and special exhibit.... this one was only there temporarily though!

There were two Mexican wolves frolicking with one another. Actually, a lot of the animals were pretty active compared to when husband and I visit in the afternoons. So the best time to visit is early in the morning, right when the museum opens, and late, late in the evenings when the museum has late summer hours.

There were quite a few large lizards around the museum...  I don't think they were part of the exhibits.  I think they just strolled in from the desert.  We actually have a resident lizard at our community so these guys must be everywhere.

Even the bear had a resident lizard (if you can see it behind the log at the front of the picture)!

We usually hear coyotes howling two or three times a day (evenings, a little after midnight and early mornings) and every once in a while we'll see one trotting around our community.

Poisonous frog?  It seems like nearly everything is poisonous, prickly or packs a mean bite down here in Arizona!

The Coati even made a rare appearance!
