Paleo Pink Grapefruit Smoothie
Grapefruit is a bit of an acquired taste because of its tendency towards sweet-tart-bitterness but I grew up devouring the fruit and don't mind the explosion of flavor on my tastebuds. If you're a fan of grapefruit and all the benefits they are packed with (vitamins and antioxidents) you'll enjoy this. The banana this recipe calls for helps combat the overwhelming tang of the fruit to make for one delicious ombre smoothie.
Recipe
Ingredients for Layer 1
- 1/4 cup frozen strawberries
- 1/4 cup pure, organic pink grapefruit juice
Ingredients for Layer 2 (set aside half after blending)
- 1/4 cup frozen strawberries
- 1/4 cup rasberries
- 1/4 cup blackberries
- 1/4 cup pure, organic pink grapefruit juice
- 1/4 cup water
Ingredients for Layer 3
- 1/4 cup pure almond milk
- 1 peeled frozen banana
- 1/2 of layer 2
Blend ingredients in layer 1. Pour into glass.
Blend ingredients to layer 2. SLOWLY pour half into the glass over layer 1.
Add ingredients from layer 3 (banana & pure almond milk) into the blender containing half of layer 2. Blend. Slowly pour the rest of the contents into the glass containing layer 1 & 2. Enjoy!
