Battle at Picacho Peak: Civil War Re-Enactment
It's been some time since we've been able to get out and have some fun due to time constraints, the flu and injuries but today we managed to make it out to the 150th Anniversary of the Engagement of Picacho Pass.
The Civil War re-enactments were a 2 day event. They did re-enactments of Valverde, Glorietta Pass, and Picacho Pass. We stayed for the Valverde and Glorietta Pass battles. The actual Picacho skirmish only consisted of 12 Union cavalry troopers, 1 scout and a lieutenant against 10 Confederates.
In between the battles were demonstrations, fashion shows, a church service, theatrical shows plus camps and vendors booths to visit.
Which end is which?
Old sawbones... can you imagine how horrible it must've been having a limb literally sawed off for 2 minutes without any anesthesia?
The first casualty. Or maybe he's just tired, so sleepy.
I think he's about to have a baby.
Oh my gosh! Do you think he's okay?
Charge!
This guy was comparing boot sizes with the "dead" soldiers. The confederate way to shop for new accessories?
I'm not sure what the guy in the back is taking a picture of....
Is that Sam Elliot in his biggest break?

Next year, I'll be sure to dress up! :] That is, if my husband is willing to be seen with me.
